Awhina and Adrian’s very different accounts of what their relationship is like after MAFS Australia

Spoiler alert: Adrian and Awhina aren’t together any more after MAFS Australia. The couple decided not to stay with each other at final vows, then left the show holding hands and flirting. But it looks like they’ve finally broken up for good now. Adrian seems to be very busy flirting with several different women. The thing is, Adrian and Awhina have very different interpretations of what happened to their relationship after MAFS Australia. Here’s what Adrian said compared to what Awhina said.

Adrian insists he’s still friends with Awhina and they’re ‘heavily involved in each other’s lives’

Just a week ago, Adrian said he and Awhina will definitely still be friends.

He told Yahoo Lifestyle that he and Awhina were “heavily involved in each other’s lives.” Adrian claimed he and Awhina agreed during the end of their stint on MAFS Australia to “still be friends and we can still care for each other and share this special experience”.

Adrian said: “Up until maybe a week ago, me and Awhina were in regular contact. I was in Bali and I was speaking to her regularly, if not every second day. Then she went to Bali and we stayed in contact all the way up until last week which was probably the only week I haven’t spoken to her.”

Based on Adrian’s Instagram, he went to Bali in early December 2024.

He was asked why he thought Awhina had slowed down their communication. Adrian replied, “nothing in particular”.

Adrian seemed confident he would catch up with Awhina soon. He said: “I think that we both just needed a minute, but she’ll be down in Sydney next weekend and I’m sure we’ll see each other. I’m sure we’ll definitely be friends.”

Adrian seems to have been alluding to this weekend, when loads of the MAFS Australia 2025 cast reunited in Sydney at reunion viewing parties. Awhina was at the Daily Mail party with 11 other cast members. Adrian wasn’t spotted at this party. He also wasn’t at the smaller fan event which Billy and Dave attended, and Clint and Jacqui got engaged at.

Er, her version of events is pretty different to this. Awhina told the Daily Mail Australia that she kept in touch with Adrian for a little bit after filming MAFS Australia, but she eventually cut him off due to “toxic” behaviour.

She said: “He’d thank me for supporting him one day – then attack me the next. I finally realised, ‘He’s not a child. He’s a grown man choosing this behaviour.’ So, I blocked him. And he kept trying to come back – added me on Snapchat, TikTok…

“I was drowning next to him every time I helped him. I’m done rewarding poor behaviour because I feel sorry for someone.”

This is rather different to Adrian’s account of what went down between them after the show.

Awhina added: “I think I’ve got my glow back. It’s amazing what cutting off someone toxic can do for your soul.

“He thought he was going to come out of this a hero. He really believed I was the villain. But the truth is out now – and I’m done protecting him.”
