Matt Lucas grovels after Millie Bobby Brown calls him out for comparing her to Vicky Pollard

Little Britain creator Matt Lucas has issued a grovelling apology after Millie Bobby Brown called him out by name in a mic drop moment video on her Instagram. Over the past week, Millie Bobby Brown has found herself scrutinised by social media and the press in response to her aesthetic and styling at various red carpet events as she embarked on the press tour for her new film The Electric State. After a shady joke made by Matt Lucas on Twitter joined in on poking fun at Millie Bobby Brown, she called him out by name and Lucas has posted an apology in response.

Millie Bobby Brown posted a video to her Instagram calling out the press and numerous journalists by name for writing articles about how she looked over the past week. Specifically aimed at a shady tweet Matt Lucas posted, Brown said “‘Little Britain’s Matt Lucas takes savage swipe at Millie Bobby Brown’s new “mommy makeover” look’—written by Bethan Edwards, amplifying an insult rather than questioning why a grown man is mocking a young woman’s appearance.”

Prior to this, Matt Lucas had tweeted “yeah but no but” after quoting a tweet that compared Brown to Lucas’ Little Britain “chav” character Vicky Pollard.

Matt responded to Millie calling him out with an apology grid post on Instagram. Lucas said: “Dear Millie, I just saw your post and wanted to respond, and provide some context. Nearly 25 y ears ago I co-wrote and appeared in a sketch show called Little Britain.

I thought you looked terrific and I was mortified when the press wrote that I ‘slammed’ you, firstly because that’s not my style, and secondly because I think you’re brilliant.

“I would not have posted it if I had thought it would have upset you but I realise it has and for that I apologise.”
