From Grammys to VMAs: Every time Sabrina Carpenter copied an iconic celebrity’s outfit
And she did it flawlessly!
Sabrina Carpenter is the queen of looking short and sweet on the red carpet. She’s got her style down to a T and always comes out looking flawless. However, she’s no stranger to taking inspiration from other iconic celebrities throughout history. Here’s a rundown of every time Sabrina Carpenter copied another celebrity’s outfit. If you’re wondering why half of history’s clothes have gone missing, her body’s where they’re at!
Grammys 2025
Sabrina looked gorgeous at the 2025 Grammys, and it’s clear blue is her colour. Her halter-neck fluffy dress with an open back and pearl neckline was an ode to one of Shirley McClaine’s most famous costumes. You might recognise this dress from the 1965 vintage film, What a Way to Go!
The backwards necklace she’s wearing is also a statement worn by many stars like Lady Diana, Anne Hathway and even Jennifer Lawrence more recently. It’s giving Cinderella in the best way.
VMAs 2024
This was arguably Sabrina’s best look, but before she donned this shimmery strapless dress, it was worn by Madonna to the Oscars in 1991. The Bob Mackie design was custom-made for Madonna, and Sabrina even managed to match her iconic blonde curly bob look. Nobody does it like her!
Sabrina’s 25th birthday
With four and a half million likes, nobody could have possibly missed this iconic picture of Sabrina on her 25th birthday. She wore a stunning yellow dress which may have reminded you of the infamous How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days dress worn by Andie Anderson.

Sabrina’s stylist, Jared Ellner, confirmed it was inspired by Andie Anderson. Even down to the diamond necklace with a yellow diamond pendant!

As if her main outfit wasn’t iconic enough, Sabrina referenced Britney Spears at the 2024 VMAs after party, in a short lacy dress with long bell sleeves. It’s an almost identical copy of Britney Spears’s navy version of this dress that she wore back in 2001.
Being a blonde in a lacy dress clearly never goes out of style!
