He’s a walking ick but these cringe Curtis Pritchard moments make me want to jump in a fire

Curtis Pritchard is once again in the Love Island villa, adding to his already solid bank of cringe moments and making me question why I’ve dedicated so much time to watching the show.

Curtis first graced our TV screens in season five of Love Island alongside Molly-Mae Hague, Tommy Fury, and Maura Higgins, to name just a few. He was coupled up with Amy Hart before breaking her heart, moving on to Maura soon after.

While this list could be a thousand cringe-worthy moments strong, to protect my own mental health I have whittled it down to the big six that still keep me up at night.

1. THAT Hollyoaks appearance – ‘How’s Trish?’

There are a few moments that go down in history as objectively awful: The day One Direction broke up, the day Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber called it quits, and Curtis Pritchard’s Hollyoaks cameo alongside his brother AJ. The moment came in 2021 and still regularly pops up on Twitter thanks to the robotic performance from the dancer brothers.

Heaven forbid I ever befriend anyone called Trish because asking how she is might spark some PTSD flashbacks.

2. I don’t want a bloody coffee

Thanks to a throwaway moment in his original season, Curtis has been known as the coffee guy for literally years. It came when he attempted to snub Amy Hart’s affections, but honestly saying “You’ve got morning breath” might have been a better explanation than what he actually replied.

“I also want to be the person that gets up and makes everyone a coffee so everyone’s ready for the morning,” he said at the time, unwittingly sparking a meme that would follow him for years.

3. That ‘sexy voice’ he’s been doing all season

Though Curtis experienced a sort of glow-up before joining All Stars, something that became a major talking point on Twitter in the earlier episodes, it was sort of like putting a fresh coat of paint on an already embarrassing car. He was still very much Curtis underneath.

I don’t even know how to explain this one, but when Curtis wants to emphasise certain words and phrases he puts on his bizarre “sexy voice” as one person on TikTok called it.

The heart rate challenge is a time-honoured tradition on Love Island, and most of the time, it sparks a slew of thirsty tweets about the Islanders. In Curtis’ case, it had people questioning how he was a professional dancer.

Over the course of two seasons, we’ve watched Curtis miraculously pull worldies like Maura Higgins, Amy Hart, and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu. How? No idea, but it’s definitely not his flirting technique. When he tried to crack on with Kaz at the start of All Stars, many people posted on Twitter about the scene.

One person said: “‘I forgot how painful it is watching Curtis attempt to flirt.”

“I swear Curtis keeps coming onto these reality shows to prove he’s not cringe but fails every time. Curtis is so cringe why is he back on my screen man,” another said.

A third wrote: “Curtis is one of the best looking this year but he is still so cringe when he talks.”
