A full rundown of Curtis and Maura’s relationship and the reason they broke up

Curtis Pritchard is one of the most talked out people in the All Stars villa after coupling up with Ekin-Su, and people can’t quite believe he’s managed to couple up with two of Love Island’s most iconic women.

While he was first on the show in 2019, Curtis dated Maura. Yes, THE Maura Higgins. We all sort of forgot that whole thing happened until he mentioned it during the first episode, but they were together for ages after leaving the villa.

He and Ekin-Su were talking about their exes and Curtis specifically said he’s had three girlfriends “including Maura,” so what actually happened between them?! Here’s a full rundown of their relationship.

Curtis and Maura met on Love Island

After being coupled up with Amy Hart for a while, Curtis told her he didn’t have the same feelings she did and got to know Maura instead. She gushed about fancying him to Lucie, saying: “I’d always look at him and think he’s obviously gorgeous, his smile is like f****** hell, he’s very manly and he’s funny, he’s almost the whole package for me.”

On the show, Curtis gave Maura a dance lesson and they raised each other’s heart rates more than any other contestants in the heart rate challenge. Then, after a bit of indecision from Curtis, they finally shared their true feelings for each other and ended up making it all the way to the final where they came in fourth place.

After leaving the villa in August, Curtis and Maura stayed together for another seven months, so they were together for around eight months in total. They became official in October, when Curtis asked Maura to be his girlfriend on a romantic weekend break in London.

The happy couple were stronger than ever

When Maura went on Dancing On Ice in January, she insisted that they were closer than ever, saying on Loose Women: “I don’t think [Curtis] is worried I’m very lucky because Curtis is obviously used to the whole dancing world, he knows that you have to have a connection to your partner.”

So, why did Curtis and Maura break up?!

However, they split in March 2020 and Maura revealed it was because they were too busy and weren’t spending time together. She told Fabulous: “Curtis and I barely saw each other At the beginning it was very, very hard because I was so besotted with him, and we never got to see each other.”

“When we did, it was really nice because you got the time to miss somebody. But sometimes it would be two weeks. You know when you’re in a relationship and you know someone’s day to day? We were that busy that we didn’t, and it was strange.”

Maura said her feelings weren’t real

During an interview with The Sunday Times after going on I’m A Celeb last year, Maura was asked if her relationship with Curtis was a “true passion” and she replied: “No.” How awkward!

“You’re in this confined space and maybe you think you like someone that you probably wouldn’t on the outside,” she said.

So, the pair were never meant to be, but maybe Curtis will have better luck finding love in the Love Island villa this time around.
