MrBeast announces his engagement to Thea Booysen and I can’t wait for the wedding

One of the world’s richest YouTubers, MrBeast is officially off the market after he proposed to his girlfriend of over two years, Thea Booysen on Christmas Day.

Whilst you might have thought he’d do some insanely expensive over the top proposal, it actually looked very down to earth, as it looks like he proposed at her family home with her whole family around them, and their two dogs of course.

The ring looks absolutely stunning and whilst it’s not clear exactly how much he spent on the diamond, I’d garner it’s a pretty penny since he certainly has the net worth to afford it!

In an interview with PEOPLE, Thea explained exactly how the proposal happened, revealing: “My family flew out from South Africa for Christmas and we were going to do Christmas in our house so both families were here.

“We were opening presents, and then for the very last present he asked me to close my eyes because it was a surprise.”

As for what kind of wedding they might have, it seems they’re going for more private than extravagant, with the pair adding: “We’re thinking of doing it somewhere on an island where we’re far away from just about everybody.

“We’re not going to try and have a big, extravagant wedding. It’s going to be nice, but it’s certainly going to be intimate [with] close family and friends.”

MrBeast and Thea Booysen met after being set up by Thea’s sister, who met MrBeast in a club in South Africa. MrBeast was stranded in South Africa after his planned trip to Antarctica had been cancelled due to Covid, and he decided to go out.

Apparently, he then met Thea’s sister Louisa who tried to set them up, as Thea explained: “I got a call on WhatsApp, and it’s MrBeast on the phone, and [Louisa is] trying to play wingman.

“Yeah, she basically got us to meet in person, and we immediately hit it off. We had so much in common, and he visited me like two more times in South Africa, and then I went back to him, to America, basically.”

Their relationship has gone from strength to strength with Thea sticking by his side throughout various controversies and defending him from those critiquing their relationship.

On Thea’s own YouTube channel, someone previously wrote: “As a fellow South African and an admirer of your intelligence and good nature, please get away from the Beast as soon as you can.”

However, Thea Booysen quickly responded and defended both MrBeast and their relationship together, writing: “I appreciate the message. There is so much that is not being said, I wish I could talk more about the situation. Half the things that are said are not true, I wouldn’t be with him if they were.

“It is so important to me to be a good person. Hopefully things will be fixed soon, but for now I’m focusing on my studies and trying to stay away from everything.”
