We asked ChatGPT for the best Halloween costumes for Cardiff students, here’s what it said
It seems that ChatGPT is very familiar with Cathays’ lore
With Halloweekend right around the corner, we decided to ask ChatGPT for the best Cardiff-inspired Halloween costumes to style for your events.
It’s fair to say it hit the brief; is there anything spookier than a Welsh rugby player or a Cathays rat? Whether you’re planning on going into town or just the pub, these outfits are sure to turn heads.
1. Seagull
Starting strong with number one, ChatGPT recommended Cardiff students dress as a Seagull for Halloween.
Who needs a scare this weekend when we have the seagulls of Cathays harassing us week in and week out? This outfit is certain to get a laugh out of your friends and also (hopefully) scare a couple of the seagulls out of Cathays.
2. Cast of Gavin and Stacey
There’s nothing more fun than dressing in a group costume at Halloween, and what’s better than referencing Gavin and Stacey whilst you’re at it?
This outfit is perfect if you’re planning on going into town or the pub this Halloween. Just don’t be surprised if people want to take a picture with Nessa or Smithy down Chippy Lane.
3. Roath Lake swan
If you fancy a more elegant Halloween costume, why not follow the ChatGPT recommendation of a swan?
Just be careful if you plan on going to the SU with this outfit, the stain of a blue VK is lethal (you’ve been warned).
4. Cathays rat
It seems ChatGPT knows Cardiff very well and suggested that Cardiff students should dress as a rat for Halloween.
Just as scary as the seagulls, this outfit hits very close to home. Hopefully it might also scare off some of the rats?
5. Welsh rugby player
Most Read
Show some Welsh pride by throwing on a Welsh rugby shirt and some face paint for a perfect last minute Halloween costume, and to make things easier, Cardiff city centre is filled with rugby shops for a last minute purchase.
6. Sheep
Embrace the Welsh stereotypes by dressing up as none other than a sheep.
All you need are some black and white clothes and some face paint for a great Welsh costume. Bonus points for getting your mates to dress up as a flock of sheep.
7. Welsh dragon
As the national symbol of Wales a dragon costume is a great costume for Halloween to embrace the Welsh culture. Chuck on some green and red clothes, or take yourself to the Joke Shop – they are sure to have some dragon-themed accessories.
8. Cardiff Castle ghost
Nothing beats a classic Halloween costume and what better than a ghost. Simply grab some old sheets and a pair of scissors to make a last minute DIY costume.
Spooky. Nice one ChatGPT.
9. The Welsh daffodil
Dress up as a cheerful daffodil to represent the national flower of Wales.
This one’s easy: wear all green and find a yellow hat (extra points if you can find a daffodil headpiece), and you’re sorted.
10. VK’s
It wouldn’t be a Cardiff Halloween costume list if it didn’t include a VK.
Cardiff students are notorious for our love of VK’s so this costume is perfect for a night in the SU. Even better if you turn up to pres with VK’s that match your outfit.
