JOMEC: pop culture reference

If you’re a student at JOMEC you are bound to be very aware of all things pop culture. So, we expect nothing but a niche, well-executed costume from our aspiring journalists and publicity assistants this spooky season.

Choosing a Halloween costume was probably done instead of your weekly reading, but the constant referencing to different celebrities, films and TV shows has finally paid off.

History: Horrible History character

We all grew up with this iconic show, so dressing up as one of the characters would not only be extremely nostalgic but the ultimate costume for a history student.

Bonus points if you sing one of the songs at karaoke.

Law:  black cat

Lawyers keep their cards close to their chest, making them very mysterious – just like a black cat.

Although this is pretty basic, the work load that law students deal with is more than an excuse for a last minute costume.

Economics: Patrick Bateman

Wealthy, idolised, but also a bit psycho, economic students will match Patrick well.

This costume is proving to be quite popular on social media this year, and if you already have a suit and a raincoat in your wardrobe, it’ll be a pretty easy one to put together.

Medicine: devil

Halloween is the one night a year that medical students can let loose and stop being perfect angels.

Those studying medicine definitely have the hard end of the stick. They’ll have to quickly whip up a costume between placement and exams, so something simple like a devil seems appropriate.

Politics: Boris Johnson

Any politician will suit this subject fine, but not many have a distinctive look that can be recreated simply with a blonde wig.

Prepare for heckles and jeering, but at least you will stand out, just maybe for the wrong reasons.
