Where was Gilmore Girls actually filmed and is Stars Hollow a real place you can visit?

I’ve got my bags ready to move

Watching Gilmore Girls is a magical experience as it is, but the real showstopper is the wholesomeness of Stars Hollow, was the show actually filmed there? As much as I’m already ready to move in and become the main character in that small town it’s sadly not a real place but it was based on someone very similar you can visit in real life…

So, let’s find out more about where they actually filmed Gilmore Girls and where the inspiration behind one of the cosiest fictional TV towns comes from. The show used a backlot in the Warner Bros Studios called Midwest Street and was filmed in Burbank, California. The show used thin prop walls for Luje’s DIner and the Dragonfly Inn and whilst they’ve all been taken down now, the iconic gazebo still stands.

The backlot is very famous in its own right and has featured in over 400 films and shows since it was built in the 1930s. However, you can visit the location of the Gilmore Girls pilot episode as that was filmed in Unionville in Toronto.

The stunning intro shots of Stars Hollow were actually filmed in Vermont and Chilton School was filmed at the Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills. So there are lot of real life Gilmore Girls locations you can visit, or if you put on a show like Pretty Little Liars you might just spot some of the same exteriors and streets being used!
