Sabrina Carpenter slammed for ‘copying’ artwork for new album cover Short n Sweet

The album cover has been compared to a Cosmopolitan France shoot from 2015

Sabrina Carpenter has been accused of copying artwork from a French magazine after releasing the cover of her new album on Monday.

Sharing news of her newest project on Instagram, Sabrina announced that her sixth studio album, Short ‘n Sweet, will be released on August 23rd.

But fans have since accused the singer of copyright and slammed her for not crediting the publication after comparing her cover to a Cosmopolitan France spread from 2015.

Users on X were quick to point out the similarities between the two photos.

Sabrina’s album cover features a photo of her in front of a bright blue background, looking over her shoulder with a lipstick kiss mark, but hasn’t been credited to the original model of the Cosmopolitan France shoot.

French model, Tiffany Collier, who posed for the original shoot back in 2018 shared a photo of the spread on her Instagram, where she’s photographed looking over her shoulder with the same lipstick kiss stain. Captioning the post “Happy Valentine’s Day”, she tagged shoot photographer, Bruno Juminer, in the post.

Users have since commented on the similarities on the original post, writing “Sabrina Carpenter ripped off this photo for her album cover” and “ME ESPRESSO”.

Other online fans were less concerned about the similarities of the two pictures, but found fault with Sabrina’s decision to use the image as inspiration without proper credit. One user on X complained: “The problem isn’t that Sabrina took inspo from some french Cosmo shoot (that’s normal), the problem is it lacks all the emotion of the original. The girl on the left actually looks outside—shadows off her bangs, sultry squint, sunkissed. Sabrina is serving IG face in a studio!”

Others questioned the legality of the artwork, but another fan commented: “It’s complicated but legally it’s just inspiration cause anyone can do this. But if she were to take the original and just put it as her cover then that’d be considered stolen.”
