If you loved Griselda, you should definitely watch these TV shows next

We simply can’t let go

If you’re anything like me, then you probably finished watching Griselda in no more than two sittings. The new limited series is yet another example of why it is so dangerous for Netflix to release an entire series at once. Watching Sofia Vergara play a domineering ’70s drug lord – commonly known as “The Godmother” – took me through a rollercoaster of emotions: I didn’t know whether to feel empowered by Griselda’s perseverance in a male dominated industry or appalled by the person it turned her into.

Nonetheless, we must continue to keep ourselves entertained, so in case you’re aimlessly scrolling looking for your next series to fixate on right now, here are a few suggestions of TV shows you should binge next if you loved Griselda:

1. Narcos

Given the contextual overlap with Griselda, it makes total sense to start this list of with Narcos. Griselda Blanco was famously the “only man” Pablo Escobar was ever afraid of – and this series follows his career and Colombia’s drug scene. The only reason Griselda doesn’t feature in the show herself is because the producers thought her story needed its own space to shine. They were, obv, correct.

2. Ozark

If you enjoyed the intensity of Griselda, then this is for you. Watching how easily the Byrde family fall into the money laundering and drug world will always be a little unnerving.

3. How To Get Away with Murder

If you enjoyed watching a woman in charge (however misguided it may have been) then Viola Davis as Annalise Keating will not disappoint. In this she assumes the role of the “godmother” equivalent to her students, helping them navigate evading the law.

4. Killing Eve

No one does better at portraying female psychosis than Jodie Comer in Killing Eve. Her and Sandra Oh make two brilliant leading ladies if you’re looking for a light-hearted thriller (with plenty of violence and espionage) to keep you busy.

5. Breaking Bad

Walter White provides a poignant example of why it’s important to pay attention in school. You never know when you might need to put your chemistry teaching skills to use in the meth industry.

6. Mr & Mrs Smith

Murder, betrayal, really great outfits: If you haven’t already, go watch Childish Gambino show off his acting skills in Mr & Mrs Smith. This eight episode drama has been a welcome distraction from the winter blues, and if your loyalty to the 2005 movie is what’s stopping you from watching this, don’t worry – the series takes on a shocking story line of its own.
