Ok, so who was the green monster at the Emmys?
What are you wearing, love?
A green monster got everyone guessing about their identity at the Emmys on Monday night, leaving many to scratch their head.
The person, who had little to no threat of someone stealing their look, was none other than RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Princess Poppy. The drag performer channelled their inner green demon instead of glamour puss at the delayed ceremony celebrating the creme de la creme of the television industry.
She spoke of wanting not to channel her inner “troll-slash-hag” and blend into the crowd on the night, whose big winners included The Bear, Succession, and Abbot Elementary.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Poppy said: “I wanted to do the exact opposite of what is expected of you when you go to an event like this. I wanted to take decorum and turn it on its head.
“Mainly I wanted to be a troll-slash-hag. I wanted to be so shocking that you just have to turn and look at me ā in the worst way possible.”

The show that catapulted Poppy to the limelight took home the Outstanding Reality Competition, with the drag competition’s legendary host, RuPaul, getting to accept the trophy for its 15th season for the fifth time.

The veteran entertainer – who, along with his reality show, has starred in a string of cult classic films like But, I’m A Cheerleader, The Brady Bunch and other titles – took the opportunity to urge people to stand in solidarity with drag performers as they face a crackdown on LGBT+ rights across the United States. Recent examples of backward steps include Florida’s controversial ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill. The legislation, signed into law by the state’s governor Ron DeSantis, bans any discussion of “sexual orientation and gender identity” in classrooms.
