Liverpool’s student guild laid a plaque to commemorate Sir Ian McKellen eating a jacket potato
No, really
In celebration of last week’s historical visit by Sir Ian McKellen, the Guild have installed a blue plaque at the table in the Sphinx where he enjoyed a jacket potato.
Overjoyed Guild President Sean Turner tweeted about the momentous occasion as it happened.

The acting legend was on campus for a talk organised by Liverpool University Vets Society about LGBT+ rights, where he discussed the joy of coming out. The talk, which was opened by head of the society Joe made the audience both laugh and cry. He praised young people today for being encouragingly more open about LGBT+ identities.

The plaque is sure to be added to the long list of legendary things the Guild have given us, including free tampons, the ability to control the music and pretty sick breakfasts.
