Police appeal for witnesses after sexual assault near Bill Mo

The attacker drove off in a white van

An 18-year old women was sexually assaulted in broad daylight last Thursday just minutes away from the Student Union.

The attack took place near Garendon Green at 12:30pm.

On November 27 a man described as “around 30 years old, 5ft 8 – 5ft9 with short dark hair and wearing a black leather jacket”.

The lone victim was walking back from the bus stop when her attacker pulled up alongside her in a white scrap metal van.

The driver then stepped out of the vehicle and touched the victim inappropriately.

He then got back into his vehicle and drove off in the direction of Blackbrook Road towards Schofield Road.

Investigating PC Lisa Charles said: “We would appeal to anyone who saw the suspect acting inappropriately at the time of the incident to please get in touch.

“The white van was quite distinctive. The victim said the van had an open back with what she thought was scrap metal on it. If you saw this van either before or after the incident, or if you have any information, we would like to speak to you.”
