UoB to offer counselling to students on the Vale
The service is open to anyone affected by the events on Tuesday
The University of Birmingham is offering counselling to students after a body was found on the Vale on Tuesday.
Emergency services were called to The Vale at around 3:30pm that day. The police cordoned off the surrounding area after reports of a body being found. The body was later pulled from the lake at around 6pm.
The police confirmed they are not treating the death as suspicious.
The university has released the following statement: “Birmingham University are deeply saddened to learn that the body of a man, believed to be in his forties and unconnected to the University, was discovered in the lake at The Vale earlier today.”
There was also confirmation that the University would be offering support to students: “staff and students affected by the incident can access support and counselling services via our website.”
