Yorkshire men voted most romantic in the UK

Love is in the air

Yorkshire men are the most romantic in the country, according to the results of a national poll.

The poll revealed the most and least romantic regions of the UK, with Yorkshire & Humberside coming top, with 64 per cent of Yorkshire women stating that their men are ‘very romantic’.

Scotland came 2nd with 59 per cent of women saying that their men are ‘very romantic’ when asked “How romantic is your partner?”

If this is considered romantic then romance is dead.

Respondents to the poll were also asked, “Who is the most romantic in your relationship, between yourself and your partner?” to which 54 per cent of women stated that their partner is more romantic than them.

Wales was voted the least romantic region with 34 per cent of women saying that their men are ‘not romantic at all’.

London also performed poorly with 32 per cent complaining about the lack of romance from their partner.

2,630 women took part in the survey, and had been in a relationship for a minimum of 12 months.

James Gibson, a University of York student who hails from north of London, said that he considers himself a romantic and was surprised that men from Yorkshire are considered romantic: “A Yorkshireman’s idea of a date is chips and gravy after a Wednesday game. AKA Josh Bew.”

Student Charlotte Beckett disagreed with Gibson, however, and told The Tab of her personal experience of Yorkshire men: “I’ve dated a few Yorkshire men whilst living in York so to be honest I was really not surprised to see they had been voted as the most romantic.”

“They’ve got what I would call a northern charm, far away from the stress of London men, and their gentleness I believe stems from their rural origins. Finally, with a Yorkshire man you can always guarantee to be treated with a pork pie or two, my favourite gift.”
