Lancaster have won Roses 2016

Bring on next year

Lancaster won Roses earlier today after crossing the required threshold of 176 points. Lancaster will lift the Carter James Trophy later this evening.

The final points tally ended 216.5-134.5 to Lancaster.

Despite the overall loss, York put in a number of impressive performances across the weekend. The Women’s 1st Football won 7-0 on Friday evening in the opening ceremony, and Women’s 1st Lacrosse demolished their opponents 28-1.

The Hockey club also completed another outdoor whitewash which included a 6-0 victory to the Men’s 3rd team and a 5-0 win for the Ladies’ 2nds. The Men’s side of the club now haven’t conceded a goal outdoors against their Lancastrian opponents in two years after another weekend of dominance.

Rugby Union 1st XV won 9-8 with a last minute drop goal from Matty Barton giving York a great ending to the weekend.

The home side decide which sports get the most points, hence no team winning away for eight years now. Last year, York won by 227.5-141.5.
