Vanbrugh is the college at York most popular with private school kids.

A whopping one in five of the college’s residents were privately educated, according to exclusive information revealed to The Tab.

Contrary to expectations, the Hes East colleges are some of the lowest on the list: Langwith has 12 per cent, Constantine 10.5 per cent and Goodricke just 10 per cent.

The data, from December 2014, also reveals that Alcuin has the fewest poshos, with a measly eight per cent. Peasants.

The data also revealed that the proportion of private school students attending the University has decreased over the last three years, from 13.2 per cent in 2012 to 11.9 per cent in 2014.

This is still significantly lower than other universities, with Oxford, St Andrews and Bristol taking more than 40 per cent of their students from private schools.

So next time you spot someone sporting red chinos and a shirt at Revs, you now know – they’re probably from Vanbrugh.
