Sheffield students occupy Uni of building to support UCU Strikes

17 students have occupied the Jessop West building


Sheffield students have occupied a Uni of building in support of the University and College Union (UCU) Strikes and in protest of the closure of the archeology department. 

Students from Uni of and Hallam occupied the Jessop West building last night and it is reported there are at least 17 students involved in the occupation.

An occupier told the Sheffield Wire: “We want managers to come to the table and except the demands of the UCU. They’re fair and reasonable”

Sheffield and Hallam UCU’s have been striking since Wednesday 1 December over pension cuts, working conditions and pay.

Today marks the last day of strike action.
