Meet The Models: Benefactor Fashion Show

We talk fashion, beauty and the Benefactor catwalk show with the Oxford-students-turned-models

As the Oxford RAG Benefactor Fashion show prepares to get under way tonight. We caught up with the model Oxford students getting ready to make their runway debut. Here are the faces of Benefactor you can expect to see sashaying down the catwalk tonight-

Sacha Mehta

Vital stats?

6ft 3, 20 years old. Reading Russian and Portuguese at St Peter’s

What will you be wearing on the night?

Dark blue velvet blazer, varsity jumper, and galactic sweatpants.

What one fashion/ beauty tip would you give to students hoping to copy the Benefactor look?

Wear as many soft fabrics as you can. No rashes/sacrifices for style, please.

How does it feel to be so good looking?

It’s a wonderful surprise and I’ve been basking in this newfound glory: I was convinced I was ugly until I was asked to model three weeks ago!

To me, oxford fashion is…

… a delightful synthesis between old and new, town and gown, mad professor and revolutionary student. It’s all about the tweed jacket.

Rebecca Henshaw

Vital Stats?

5 ft 6, 20 years old. Reading E&M at Pembroke

What will you be wearing on the night?
Fresh black puffball dress, springtime frock, Peach Fizzball Ballgown, Vintage 60s Hostess outfit, Coast grey gown.

What one fashion/ beauty tip would you give to students hoping to copy the Benefactor look?

Don’t be afraid to go vintage or bold, there’s so much that you can explore and you may find that things you would never dream about wearing actually really suit you!

How does it feel to be so good looking?

I feel like a princess and you’d totally understand when you see my ballgown – every little girl’s dream!

To me, Oxford fashion is…

…whatever you want to make it

Bethany Garrett

Vital Stats?

5 ft4 (and a half!), 20 years old. Reading Geography at St John’s.

What will you be wearing on the night?

A springtime frock, a blue and white dress from Aspire Style, a super short paisley mini dress from the 60s with a big floppy hat, and an LBD with another fancy hat!

What one fashion/ beauty tip would you give to students hoping to copy the Benefactor look?

My tutor always says you should be the change you want to see in the world – I figured if I dressed in 60s gear most of the time it might catch on… but really do your own thing and work it! Wearing something outta your comfort zone and completely bossing it doesn’t half give ya a confidence boost!

How does it feel to be so good looking?

You wouldn’t be asking me that if ya saw me in the morning with me rollers in!

To me, Oxford fashion is…

…whatever you fancy. But try and keep it classy and sassy.

Oliver Sadik

Vital Stats?

6ft 2, 21 years old. Reading E&M at Brasenose.

What will you be wearing on the night?

I’ll be wearing a 20’s Capone style suit, velvet Jacket and waistcoat, white tie complete with top hat and cane and two outfits from Oxford tailors Clements and Church.

What one fashion/ beauty tip would you give to students hoping to copy the Benefactor look?

Get yourself some velvet, brush dirt off of it in a conspicuous manner

How does it feel to be so good looking?

I wasn’t like every other kid, you know, who dreams about being an astronaut, I was always more interested in what bark was made out of on a tree. I care desperately about what I do. Do I know what product I’m selling? No. Do I know what I’m doing today? No. But I’m here, and I’m gonna give it my best shot.

To me, Oxford fashion is…

… unimportant compared to the plight of kids who can’t read good
