The huge screen outside Portland cost the uni £200,000

It’s part of over £2 million they spent on the Portland Hill works

Through new stats revealed from the University, The Tab Nottingham can reveal the ammount of money spent on renovations during the 2017/18 academic year.

The stats, obtained through a Freedom of Informtion request submitted by The Tab Nottingham, state that the total cost (including VAT) of the Portland Hill works was £2,251,000, of which £1,000,000 was met through philanthropic donation.

The screen, above on Portland Building, was installed at the direct request of the Students' Union at a cost of £202,000. The origin of the money spent on the renovation project is unknown, or whom donated for such works.

Great speculation had grown since the beginning of the academic year, as the new works, expected to end in August of 2017, were delayed until term 2 of the 2017/18 academic year.

The renovations have been met with mixed reactions, as students across University Campus have felt that the delays impeded on accessibility to Portland Building, and caused traffic for the 901 and 903 buses in the campus.
