Nottingham grad arrested for raping woman in Parliament

He was a committee member of the Conservatives Society who was suspended in 2015

A 23-year-old Nottingham grad and a Tory aide has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman in Parliament.

The former Nottingham University Conservative Association (NUCA) committee member is said to have invited the girl back to MP Craig Mackinlay’s office office after they’d both been drinking. The victim told the police she was attacked in the early hours of Friday.

The accused was suspended and banned from going to NUCA’s events as of September 2015.

Police were called to the location at around 1AM, and he was later arrested.

The Tory aide and chief of staff for the MP is on bail until January while investigations continue.

Until further notice, he has been banned from entering the Parliamentary Estate.

It is believed to be the first time a woman has reported rape within the Houses of Parliament.
