NCL Dates are hosting speed dates across February and March for all of you singles

I’ve heard enough Hinge horror stories to ward me off for life

NCL Dates are hosting a number of dating events this February and March, perfect for single students who are sick of swiping through the same pile of leftover Tinder cards. They’re running a number of different date nights depending on what category you fall into. If you’ve previously been on a Memecastle Blind Date, this is naturally the next step and whether you’re looking for a special someone in your life or simply want to try something new, it’s a good bit of fun either way.

The dating services offers the chance to “make real connections you won’t find on dating apps”, which is something a lot of people are looking for after hearing the Hinge horror stories we’ve all heard circulating on TikTok. The upcoming events are as follows:

LGBTQ+ Speed Dates

There are multiple dates running for LGBTQ+ singles in both March and February. There are events for ages 18-35 and 25-45, perfect for both a younger and older crowd and especially great if you’re an older student looking for a new crowd of dating candidates, as you’ll meet a number of various people from different occupations and backgrounds. See here for dates.

Valentine’s Day Double Speed Dates: Ages 18-25

Perfect for first time speed daters or anyone who’d prefer a familiar face to accompany them on their date to knock off that nervous edge, double speed dates are insanely popular. Because of this, there are only male tickets left for the first event on February 14th, perhaps also due to the fact it’s hosted at Market Shaker. Immaculate vibes.

But fear not, as there is another double speed date event scheduled for March 10th.

And the best part is that they’re not exclusive to students, so you can finally break out of the same dating pool that all of your housemates have dipped their toes in. You might even find yourself a nice Geordie – chance would be a fine thing.

Northumbria SU SHAG Week Speed Dates: Students only

For students only, this event is coinciding with Northumbria SU’s famous Shag week, running from 13th-17th February. “Shag” stands for sexual health and guidance and so the SU are promoting all things safe sex, from sexually transmitted infections (STI’s), healthy relationships and sexual inequalities to kinks, toys and solo pleasure. As part of SHAG week, they’ll be giving out all kinds of freebies and helpful information.

This date night is likely to be extremely popular and is being held on February 16th.

Young Professionals Speed Dating: Ages 21-29

This particular event is new to NCL Dates and is perfect for graduates looking to mingle with other young professionals. The category is purposefully broad, meaning you’ll get to meet people from a range of different backgrounds, including business owners. It’s set to be a big success and is running on March 9th.

Valentine’s Special Speed Dates: Ages 25-39

Again, you snooze you lose with this one, as only male tickets remain for this event. So if you’re over 25, a guy, and you’re free on Monday 20th February, why not take a gamble. At worst, it’ll be an interesting story to tell in the pub.

All information and further dates can be found on Instagram via @ncldates and tickets can be purchased here.
