Police arrested 18 protesters on Saturday
Over the weekend protesters in Manchester joined thousands across the country, as Kill The Bill protests entered their second week of demonstrations. The protests come as the government aims to pass a controversial policing bill, which will limit rights to protest and increase police powers.
Following the fall-out from the Bristol protests, the atmosphere in Manchester appeared tenser than last week but remained entirely peaceful.
After gathering in St Peter’s Square, protesters blocked roads and tram lines throughout the city. At around 5pm as the protest had largely dispersed, around 6o police officers moved into forcefully arrest those remaining. 18 arrests were made in total, the majority of them believed to be people under 21, according to legal observers.
