The SU have released a student safety survey and it’s important you complete it

It could help the SU improve student safety in Manchester

The Students’ Union have released a student safety survey this week to gather information on issues affecting students at Manchester.

The union wants all students in Manchester to take their safety survey, and you’re entered for a cash prize draw if you complete the survey! The short survey released by the Students’ Union is open to all genders and universities in Manchester.

The results will be a key factor in lobbying for change in the city, in an attempt to improve student safety. The questions are related to issues such as sexual assault and harassment and the services provided by the union, in order to find out where improvement is needed.

There are also questions related to council issues such as police presence and street lighting: so if you feel that these are insufficient, taking the survey will make your voice heard, and will help the union to campaign to increase these services across the city.

Women’s officer, Jess Lishak is encouraging all students to take the survey. She told The Tab: “We know that safety is a really big issue and concern for students in Manchester but we wanted to do a survey that explored what that actually means so that we can make sure the initiatives that the Students’ Union are providing are what students actually want.

“I think that the results could be really helpful for Jenni (next year’s women’s officer) and Saffa (next year’s community officer) to help plan their work but also to win the arguments with the university for more funding around student safety.”

If you complete the survey you will be entered into a cash prize draw, so it’s definitely worth your time.
