That time of year is rolling round again- Varsity. And after demolishing KCL across the board last year, we’re sure to be winning again this year.

Meet the Ice Hockey Squad planning on bringing the varsity title home and destroying Imperial.

Year: Second

Subject: History, Politics, and economics 

How long have they been playing: 16 years 

Fun Fact: He’s beaten the Sweden’s Women’s national team in a friendly before, and he’s looking forward to taking back the varsity trophy for UCL after a few miserable years 

Aleksander Jekabson (A) – Winger

Year: Third

Subject: Geography

How long have they been playing: 15 years 

Fun Fact: He was a silver medalist at the British open and English open for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Harry Blake (A) – Winger

Year: First

Subject: Natural Sciences

How long have they been playing: 14 years

Fun Fact: He leads the Yetis this season in points and he also plays for the Cup Winning Invicta Mustangs

Tory Yoon – Net Minder

Year: Second

Subject: History and Philosophy of Science

How long have they been playing: 6 years

Fun Fact: His life mantra is Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat 

Rosie Clarke – Defence

Year: Sixth

Fun Fact: Can pass the puck more reliably than she can exams

Ildar Safin – Defence

Year: 4th

Fun Fact: When Hockey was played in its early days, a frozen patty of cow poop was used as a puck.

Modaser Anwary – Winger

Year: Third

Subject: Quantitative Social Sciences

Fun Fact: He’s a UoL Fencing Champion

Adam Weiss – Winger

Year: 6th

Subject: Medicine 

How long have they been playing: 7 years 

Fun Fact: used to figure skate for Blackburn 

Rory Hughes – Defence

Year: Fourth

Subject: German and Russian

How long have they been playing: 10 years 

Fun Fact: He’s trained with a National Hockey League and an American Hockey League Team

Tyler Leli – Centre

Year: MPhil Student 

Subject: Philosophy 

How long have they been playing: 20+ years

Fun Fact: He’s been to both Stanley Cup Finals and Olympic Hockey game finals 

Ben Li – Winger 

Year: Second

Subject: Electronic and Electrical Engineering

How long have they been playing: 3 years

Fun Fact: Starting goaltending last June and is already the current B team goali

Umar Saleem – Winger

Year: Fourth

Subject: Mechanical Engineering

How long have they been playing: 6 years 

Fun Fact: He wants everyone to know that outside of Ice Hockey, he’s also pretty good at snowboarding

 Mac van Dam – Centre

Year: Masters

Subject:  Bio-integrated design 

How long have they been playing: His whole life (currently 24)

Fun Fact: He likes long bike rides on sunny days 

Meghan Sullivan – Defence

Fun Fact: He is the captain of  UCL’s first team in Counter-Strike.
