When exactly can we get student discount at Nando’s?

They don’t do a free quarter chicken anymore

We all love Nando’s, it’s a fact. UCL students are especially fortunate to be in optimal walking distance from not one, but two Nando’s restaurants: one by Euston Station and the other on Goodge Street.

What many people don’t seem to be aware of, however, is the very existence of the Nando’s on Goodge Street, and along with that, the special student discount they have on offer just for us. In fact, according to the Nando’s website, the Goodge street branch is one of the few exclusively selected Nando’s which have a student offer at all.

Home sweet home

The offer used to be a very generous 1/4 chicken when £6 was spent, but one thing which is quite misleading is the claim the offer is available “all week” because, as many will tell you from experience, it really isn’t. Many have tried and failed to secure the hallowed 1/4 chicken, in fact, it’s happened so frequently many consider the poultry to be some sort of enigmatic myth.

One UCL Nando’s enthusiast said: “It’s so ridiculous, I remember trying on a Friday once, and they told me that the deal stopped at 4pm on a Friday. Another time I went on a Monday and apparently they didn’t do the offer after 5pm, and don’t get me started on weekends. Although, I did manage to get it once, it was kind of a miracle.” Unfortunately, this deal has now stopped and been replaced with a 20 per cent off option.

Six letter word, starts with a c, ends in a y, usually used to describe a Nando’s meal

According to Nando’s staff, this new offer is in fact available regularly, but of course, there is still a catch: only after 3pm. Yes, that’s every day (including weekends) after 3pm you are entitled to a Nando’s of your choice with 20 per cent off, that is the official rule according to the staff under the new rules. Some of the reactions to this new deal included Mehj Ahmed’s, a third year Classics student who initially was in shock: “I didn’t even know there was a Nando’s on Goodge Street, what? How did I miss that? I’m going there tomorrow, man.”

If you’re planning a trip soon, good luck, and don’t forget to take your UCL ID.
