Return of the Strike

Classes cancelled as staff plan another higher pay protest in the first week of term

School’s out before it’s even begun this week as lecturers call strikes once again.

But this time they’re cutting back protests, so you might not miss your lecture after all.

Staff will strike tomorrow (Tuesday 28th January) from 2pm to 4pm and again on Monday 10th February from 9am to 11am.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Viviven Jones said: “The University and College Union has called a series of two-hour rolling strikes in January and February in support of the unions’ campaign for higher pay settlement for 2013-14.”

She added: “Many lectures and classes will proceed as normal, but that there are likely to be minor disruptions, and some educational activities may be postponed or brought to a premature end if they coincide with the two-hour strike periods.”

You should assume that your lectures, classes and seminars are taking place as normal unless you are notified to the contrary by your school.”

But don’t worry if you want to keep your New Year’s resolution of hitting the books hard this year – all libraries are set to stay open as usual.
