King’s College London graduate to become Blue Peter’s 43rd presenter
Shini Muthukrishnan said she is ‘buzzing’ to begin her first TV role
Lily PowellRecent King’s College London graduate and TikTok star, Shini Muthukrishnan, will be joining the Blue Peter team as their 43rd presenter.
This marks her debut on television after graduating from her degree in Philosophy, Politics & Economics in 2023.
Shini began posting on TikTok during the coronavirus pandemic with video content celebrating her British, Indian and Malaysian heritage and has seen her social media following grow since then.
Shini told The King’s Tab: “I’m absolutely buzzing to be the next Blue Peter presenter. Having watched it as a kid, I can’t wait to be a part of the magic of the show.
“I was initially scouted for the role through my social media in July 2023, and here we are now! My first show will be on this Friday at 5pm on CBBC and BBC iPlayer so tune in if you can.”
The 22-year-old is set to receive her first Blue Peter badge in her opening episode which airs live Friday 19th January at 5pm on the CBBC Channel.
It has been revealed that Shini’s first challenge will include taking part in aircraft aerobatics as well as attempting to bath Henry the dog and cooking up a tasty treat on the show.
