Edinburgh is the fifth best uni in the UK

And the best in Scotland

According to a new list by the Centre for World University Rankings,  Edi is the third best uni in the UK. Beaten only by Oxbridge, UCL and Imperial, Edinburgh sits pretty near the top of a 25,000 strong table of degree awarding institutions.

Aside from being fifth in the UK, we were also ranked 55th in the world, putting us firmly in the top 0.25 per cent of the world’s unis.

The ranking takes into account the usual list of factors including quality of teaching, alumni employment and academic citations as well as a score for “broad impact”.

This puts us ahead of Southampton, Leeds, Sheffield and pretty much every other uni in the world. Meanwhile, across town Napier didn’t even make the top 1000.

Earlier this year, QS ranked Edi the 22nd best uni in the world and the third best place to study linguistics.
