Edinburgh beats Oxbridge in new university rankings

Awkwardly, we came lower than Aston

| UPDATED

In a recent student opinion ranking Edinburgh University has come 38th. One below Aston University.

Following analysis of 25,000 student reviews on Whatuni.com, Edinburgh placed 38 out of 100 considered universities. The rankings took into account job prospects and student support, but also looked at areas such as accommodation, nightlife, student unions, and student societies.

The student reviews site saw world-renowned universities such as Oxford and Cambridge slated, Oxford coming 50th and Cambridge 43rd, while smaller, lesser-known universities populated the top-20, such as Falmouth, Edge Hill, and Glasgow.

The number one spot went to Harper Adams University, a specialist agricultural university in Shropshire, while poor University of Winchester came 100th.

Napier, as usual, could be counted on to trail in at the lower end of things coming 87th.

This ranking system joins a multitude of strange and ultimately meaningless rankings that has seen Edinburgh bounce from 17th in the world, according to QS, to 22nd in the UK in the Sunday Times Good University Guide.
