Jacob Rees-Mogg responds to naked debate challenge

Caius professor Dr Bateman challenged the Brexiteer to a naked debate last week

Last week, Gonville and Caius professor Dr Victoria Bateman challenged Jacob Rees-Mogg to a naked debate as part of her campaign against the UK's impending departure from the European Union.

On his own show on LBC radio station, Rees-Mogg said that taking part in the debate "will be difficult because my birthday suit isn't double breasted and therefore I don't think it'd be decent to be seen in public in".

Whilst he offered Bateman "a personal hotline" to discuss Brexit "whenever she wants", Rees-Mogg said "I'm sorry – well I'm not sorry but I can reassure people that I will remain fully clothed".

In justification of his rejection of the debate, the Brexiteer concluded "I think I have a face for radio".

Whilst Dr Bateman argues that Britain will be "left naked" after Brexit, it seems that the Brexiteers themselves will be remaining fully clothed (for now).
