Sir David Attenborough and Greta Thunberg to appear together at Bristol event

This will be the first time they appear together

Certified national treasure, Sir David Attenborough, and the legendary Greta Thunberg will be appearing together for the first time next week at a Bristol event.

They will appear in conversation together for the first time ever at this year’s virtual Wildscreen Festival, an annual Bristol event showcasing nature filmmaking from around the world.

They will talk about the climate emergency that the world is facing, “honestly discussing their opinions of where are now and where we need to be”.

With 77 years separating them, the duo will have a “detailed conversation” about “the most pressing issue of our age”, giving viewers a “unique chance” to hear the pair together.

This year’s event is virtual, meaning there will no capacity limit on viewers. Virtual tickets are available on the Wildscreen Festival website, where there is a concessionary pass for students with over 50 per cent off.

Greta Thunberg visited Bristol for the first time back in late February to hold a rally for over 30,000 people, telling the adoring crowd: “I will not stand aside and watch, I will not be silenced while the world is on fire. Will you?”

Sue Martineau, interim Wildscreen CEO, said: “We are so proud that two of the most famous figures in the fight against climate change have agreed to take time out of their exceptionally busy schedules to appear at Wildscreen Festival 2020.

“The brave and powerful voices of the iconic naturalist Sir David Attenborough and the climate and environmental activist Greta Thunberg is a compelling gift and couldn’t be more pertinent in our current global crisis.”

The festival begins on Monday (19/10) and runs until Friday (23/10).
