Surprise, the Phillip Schofield Castaway show is being dragged by literally everyone

‘Who thought this was a good idea?’

Phillip Schofield has had one of the quickest downfalls ever seen on national television, but he just took his career to a whole new level of flopping – people think his Channel Five show, Castaway, was a terrible attempt at a redemption arc. Despite claiming to never want to return to TV, he’s the star of his own self-pitying monologue, and the reviews are absolutely scathing.

The show is a three part special which means we’ve there’s still two episodes to enjoy eye-watering levels of boredom. He’s basically frolicking around an island, living in isolation and trying to survive. Viewers have not taken to the show lightly – it’s already received terrible reviews from most big publications, but it’s also getting obliterated online.

To be honest, the majority of the hate seems to be directed at the concept of him doing a show at all. One user wrote: “Phillip Schofield back like the great plague of London. Just stay gone!”

Others are frustrated that he’s using the show to share a “big sob story.” One X user said: “Let’s be honest, the only reason anyone’s watching this is to slag him off. I don’t know why he’s giving it the big sob story. Does he really think people would feel sorry for him?”

Additionally, there was one moment that people seemed to really hate, and it involved his former presenting partner, Holly Willoughby. In his farewell meal before he set off to the island, he asked his daughter in a mocking tone, “are you okay?” just like Holly Willoughby said while addressing the scandal on This Morning. He then continued on his journey of self-victimisation by saying that some people will wish he was stranded on the island forever, or until he died.

The show as a whole felt very plotless but at the same time orchestrated around this message of he was trying to send. So basically, exactly what we all thought it would be.

It seems as though Phillip Schofield has dug himself into an even deeper hole with Castaway, this time on the sandy beaches of a deserted island. I think the reviews speak for themselves, but if there’s one thing I know, it’s that I’m not tuning in for episode two.
