There’s a fun little Marvel easter egg hidden in the second season of Heartstopper

I completely missed it!!

Heartstopper season two has dropped on Netflix and people are already just as obsessed with it as they were with the first season. When it was first released last year, Heartstopper became extremely popular and launched all the actors into stardom meaning this second season has been highly anticipated. Whilst you’re binge watching the sequel of the Netflix show, despite watching intently, you’d be forgiven for not noticing a cheeky little easter egg that has been hidden in one of the episodes. There’s actually a secret Marvel easter egg in the new series, here’s what you may have missed.

Heartstopper season two contains a Marvel Easter Egg

In between the release of the first season and the drop of the second, Joe Locke who plays one of the leads, Charlie Spring, has been cast in a new show for Disney + called Agatha: Coven of Chaos. The show is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is essentially a prequel to the much loved WandaVision. Whilst it’s not been officially confirmed who Joe will be playing, it’s widely suspected he’ll be playing the older version of Wanda’s son Billy, who also happens to be one of the most famous gay characters in the cinematic universe.

In episode two of the latest season of Heartstopper, Joe’s character, Charlie, and Kit Connor’s character, Nick, are watching a movie together and Charlie falls asleep. He then wakes up and apologises for nodding off, saying: “I did warn you I’m not a fan of Marvel movies” which many are taking as a nod to Joe’s recent casting in the franchise.

Spookily, in Alice Oseman’s original Heartstopper graphic novels, Charlie and Nick dress up as WandaVision’s Billy and his boyfriend, Huckling, for halloween, further cementing fans suspicions of the role Joe is to be playing in Coven of Chaos. It’s almost as if it was fate.

There’s also a secret cameo in the new season

The Heartstopper Marvel easter egg isn’t the only thing hidden in plain sight in the new season. In season one, the creator of the show and author of the original graphic novels, Alice Oseman, makes an appearance in the final episode as a passenger onboard a train. Whilst Alice doesn’t feature in season two, the show’s director Euros actually makes a cameo as a security guard at the Louvre when the characters go on a school trip to Paris. Did you spot him?

Both seasons of Heartstopper are available to watch on Netflix now. For all the latest Netflix news, drops and memes like The Holy Church of Netflix on Facebook.
