Selina Chhaur says her mental health has ‘really declined’ since MAFS Australia

‘That’s my reality of the moment, it’s not fun and rainbows all the time’

Former Married at First Sight Australia bride Selina Chhaur has revealed she has been struggling with her mental health since appearing on the reality TV series.

Selina was on MAFS Australia season nine and was matched with Cody Bromley. The pair went their separate ways in the finale but they did eventually end up reuniting. But things still didn’t work out between the couple.

In a candid chat with her followers on Instagram, Selina said her mental health has “really declined” since moving to Sydney after MAFS Australia.

“It may seem like I’m living it up over here, but it has been far from that reality,” she said. “It’s been really tough. I have cried myself to sleep so many nights.”

Selina said she hadn’t been in touch with her family since filming for MAFS Australia ended in January 2022, and only recently has her mother reached out to her.

“For those that have been following my journey, that’s a long time to go [with] no contact from your family, especially with everything that I went through,” she explained. “To go through that without my family’s support was really hard.”

Selina detailed how difficult it has been trying to work as an influencer and live in Sydney and at one point she feared she was going to be homeless.

“Only a few weeks ago, I literally was fearing that I was going to be homeless in Sydney,” she said. “I’m so lucky and grateful that I got approved for this apartment.

“I still live this narrative at the moment where brands still don’t want to work with me because I don’t fit this cookie cutter blonde haired blue-eyed influencer look. That’s my reality of the moment, it’s not fun and rainbows all the time. It sucks, life does suck sometimes and that’s  okay.”
