Britain’s a fucking weird place isn’t it? The whole world takes the piss out of us for our obsession with queuing, while simultaneously adoring our obscenely wealthy un-elected head of state. And following a certain head of state’s passing, these two themes have collided in a three mile spectacle of absurd Britishness. I am, of course, referring to the queue to see the Queen’s coffin.

People are staying over night, getting piss-wet through, tired and hungry in an orderly procession, all for a chance to glimpse the coffin and hopefully be released from the collective grief I know we are all feeling.
