The BBC has just announced Waterloo Road is coming back for a brand new series

And it’s not in Scotland any more!

The BBC has just announced Waterloo Road is coming back for a brand new series.

The show will be returning six years after its tenth and final series aired, and will be set and made in greater Manchester.

However, it’s unknown if any of the original cast will return in a Tracy Beaker-style role reprisal.

No release date has been announced, but the show will be aired on BBC One.

The original show is consistently among the top five most-watched shows on iPlayer for young audiences , the BBC said

Piers Wenger, director of BBC Drama, said: “Waterloo Road is the perfect lens through which to explore post-Covid Britain, from the perspective of those who have arguably been affected most: young people in education.

“We are thrilled to be returning to this brilliant format – its thrills and spills, unmissable characters and high drama – at a time when audiences across Britain need it most.”
