Ranked: The winter Islanders who have gained the most Instagram followers
This is the real reason they all went on the show
Some people think Love Island is actually about love. The rest of us know that the Islanders care more about leaving with loads of Instagram followers and the prospect of a career flogging car air fresheners on social media. And some of the winter Islanders have got a good chance of making that dream a reality.
Digitaloft has created a social scoreboard, ranking the Islanders by who has the most followers now. It also contains how many followers they had when they entered the villa and creates a percentage increase from then to now.
Before we find out the top ranking Islanders, let’s take a special moment for those at the bottom. The Islander with the least followers is Casa Amor’s George (26k) then it’s Casa Amor’s Jade (29.8k), Casa Amor’s Jamie (31.5k), Casa Amor’s Alexi (39.5k) and Casa Amor’s Josh (47k).
And here’s a ranking of those who have gained the most Instagram followers since being on the show:
1. Shaughna Phillips – 1.4 million
Shaughna might not have gained a man from the villa, or even made it to the final, but so far she has the most Instagram followers out of all the winter Islanders. She had 14k when she went into the villa, meaning she has had a 9835 per cent increase to where she is now, on 1.4 million.
2. Paige Turley – 1.4 million
Quickly on Shaughna’s heels is winner Paige. She has just less, but still 1.4 million followers. Paige had just over 36k followers when she entered the villa, making her percentage increase 4019 per cent.
3. Siânnise Fudge – 1.1 million
Completing the top three is our other favourite girl, queen Siânnise. When she entered the villa she had 10k followers and now she has 1.1 million. Her percentage increase is 10,970 per cent.
4. Finley Tapp – 1.1 million
Just behind Siânnise is the other half of the winning couple, Finn. His increase in followers is impressive, as he entered the villa with just one thousand followers. One thousand!!! Now he has 1.1 million, making his percentage increase a whopping 60,165 per cent!!!
5. Luke Trotman – 978,000
Completing the top five is our other runner-up, Luke T. He is just shy of the precious one million followers. He had just over 2,000 when he entered the villa so his percentage increase is 39,474 per cent.
Other than Shaughna, who was obviously everyone’s favourite, the top five is made up of the winners and runners-up, which is no surprise.
6. Luke Mabbott – 968,000
Just behind his bestie is other Luke. As a finalist it’s no surprise he’s pretty high up on the ranking – and he looks like Justin Bieber which probably helps a lot. Luke M had 3,000 followers when he entered the villa, meaning his percentage increase is 30,371 per cent.
7. Demi Jones – 803,000
Next up is Luke M’s partner, Demi. She currently has just over 800k followers. When Demi first went onto Love Island as a bombshell she had just under 5,000 followers. Her percentage increase is 16,346 per cent.
8. Callum Jones – 778,000
Callum has leap-frogged quite a few Islanders who did better than him on the show and is 8th in the ranking with 778k followers. He had 12k followers when he entered Love Island so his percentage increase is 6360 per cent.
9. Sophie Piper – 755,000
Sophie might not have got that far in the show, but if she was in it for a decent amount of followers and probably a subsequent clothing deal – she’s done very well. Sophie now has 755k followers. She had an impressive 30k before the show, meaning her percentage increase is only 2545 per cent.
10. Connor Durman – 624,000
Completing the top 10 ranking is original Islander, Connor Durman. He’s just behind his girlfriend Sophie in the ranking. He now has 624k followers, much more than his 11.8k when he entered the villa. His percentage increase is 5267 per cent.
Special mentions to the finalists Jess and Ched, neither of which are in the top 10 for follower count now. Jess is in 12th with just under 600k and Ched is in 19th with just over 200k.
All follower counts were correct at time of publication. The live social scoreboard can be found here.
