Supermarkets urgently recall 83 types of hummus amid salmonella fears

Sorry but I’d rather have salmonella than no hummus

Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl, and Asda have urgently recalled boatloads of hummus as 83 products are feared to be laced with salmonella.

The Food Standards Authority is telling you not to eat hummus. But this time the warning is worth listening to – it's not a concerned housemate seeing all the pots by your door, it's scientists not wanting you to get a horrid disease.

The warning extends to hummus made by Zorba Delicacies Limited, MailOnline reports.

You can get a refund if you take the affected product back to the stores.

The FSA said: "The products listed above might be contaminated with salmonella.

"If you have bought any of the above products do not eat them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund.

"Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps."

The affected products are listed on the FSA website. Controversially, it lists caramelised onion hummus alongside other, proper hummuses.
