Put down your VK and listen: These are the top 20 UK Students’ Unions of 2018

Peak if your uni didn’t make the list

Student Crowd have announced their top 20 Students' Unions for 2018, compiling the list using survey data from 7,849 students rating their own uni's SUs.

Students were asked to vote on campus and facilities, clubs and societies, the students' union itself, the careers service and the internet/wifi. Students rated their university in each of these categories out of five.

Loughborough University Students' Union came in first place, with its unique nature of being entirely owned by the students cited as a possible reason for it taking the top spot.

However, Loughborough Students' Union attracted controversy earlier this year when students were crushed whilst queuing to get into an event.

The rest of the top five was made up by University of Sheffield, University of Dundee, University of Leeds and Cardiff University. You can see the full top 20 below.

University of Dundee was the highest Scottish university, finishing third overall, and Cardiff University was the highest placed Welsh uni, finishing fifth. Only eight Russell Group universities made the top 20, with notable omissions including Liverpool, Manchester and Bristol.

In the last Student Crowd rankings, back in 2015, University of Sheffield achieved the top spot, with Loughborough University not making the top three.
