Miley Cyrus reveals her emotional final conversation with Dolly Parton before she died

Miley Cyrus has opened up about her relationship with godmother Dolly Parton after her tragic death and revealed the final conversation they ever had. 

The country icon passed away on 25th August at the age of 80 after a “brief battle with cancer,” her family revealed in a statement. She died at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, surrounded by loved ones.

In a new interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Cyrus revealed that she told Dolly about her new single Bass Persuades shortly before her death, and that was the last time they ever spoke. Her death came as a huge shock, so their final conversation was really normal, and that’s what makes it so emotional.

“I’m just trying to keep myself together, but the time that we talked — which was the last time we would talk — it was actually me telling her about this record because even though we are so different, that’s what made us so perfect for each other is that she knew this, and I know this,” she said

“She’s known for, I guess, the faux, the fake, the hair, the makeup, the show of it, but there’s a part of her that’s just what I think everyone gravitates toward — how real she is and how authentic she is. And there was a time in my life, I mean, we hit on it with Hannah [Montana], so much of my life’s about persona. I think a way that I could look at that as you can have a persona and still be who you are is because I had Dolly.”

Miley explained that whenever she got a vinyl printed, Dolly would always be the first person she’d send it to, and she always went to her godmother for advice.

“She was always right. It’s like how your mom’s always right, and when you’re a kid, you’re like, ‘What does she know?’ And then as you get older, you’re like, ‘Everything. How? Where did this come from? You’re just a normal person. Why do you know everything?’ Dolly was just always right about stuff,” she said.
