Sweet way boyfriend Ricky Alvarez has been supporting Ariana Grande through intense backlash

As Ariana Grande prepares to disappear from the public eye for a while, it sounds like one person will be spending plenty of that downtime with her: Ricky Alvarez.

After Ariana confirmed she’ll be taking “a step back from visibility” once her Eternal Sunshine tour ends in September, people close to the singer are now opening up about how much Ricky has been supporting her behind the scenes.

The announcement came after months of conversation online about Ariana’s appearance and weight loss. Those rumours were quickly shut down by sources close to the singer, who say her plans are much simpler.

According to Page Six, Ariana will instead be taking time to reconnect with the people closest to her.

“She’ll be spending a lot of time with her family, friends and Ricky,” a source said, explaining that her packed schedule over recent months meant she hadn’t been able to properly switch off with the people she loves.

The insider added: “She and Ricky haven’t been able to spend as much time together as she would have liked over the past few months, so she’s looking forward to having more uninterrupted time with him.”

Meanwhile, sources who spoke to TMZ said Ariana’s inner circle believes Ricky has been a huge source of stability throughout the recent attention surrounding her.

According to the outlet, people close to the singer “feel Ricky is a good guy and has been there for her.” Sources also pointed out that Ricky was around during Ariana’s first relationship with him too, when she was dealing with public drama at the time.

The pair rekindled their romance in 2025, years after first dating, and since getting back together Ricky has regularly been spotted supporting Ariana while she’s on tour, attending different shows and cheering her on from the sidelines.

Concern around Ariana’s health intensified after the release of the music video for Petal, with social media flooded by comments about her appearance. Not long afterwards, representatives for the singer announced she would be stepping away from the spotlight once her tour finishes.

Speaking on stage after the announcement, Ariana stressed that the decision wasn’t made because of recent headlines.

“The announcement that was made yesterday was not a reactive or impulsive thing. It was something that I have decided. A plan that I had quietly made a long time ago.”
