The Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua purse has been revealed, and their pay is ENORMOUS
The figure is actually mind-blowing
Jake Paul is going to take on Anthony Joshua in December at the biggest influencer boxing event of all time, and the purse is absolutely staggering.
The pair will fight at Miami’s Kaseya Center on 19th December, and it will consist of eight three-minute rounds. Both fighters will have to wear regulation 10-ounce gloves.
Apparently, Anthony Joshua was given an “offer he simply couldn’t refuse,” and that definitely comes down to the extraordinary payout. Both of them are set to earn at least £50 million each!
According to SunSport, Paul and Joshua are going to split £100 million evenly, meaning they’ll take home £50 million. Daily Mail Sport says the figure it actually even higher, a £140 million split between them, meaning £70 million each.
Either way, they’re looking at a huge payday, and they’re not the only ones who will be raking it in. The promoter, DAZN, is set to make more than £10 million from the fight, which is airing on Netflix.
It will be included in all Netflix plans and be streamed live globally at 8pm ET. That means it won’t start until 1am in the UK, but it sounds like it’s going to be worth the wait.
“The matchup unites Paul, the sport’s most-watched fighter whose showmanship has redefined modern boxing and shattered records at every turn, with Joshua, one of boxing’s most accomplished, respected, and feared punchers — a global icon who twice unified the heavyweight division and has headlined sold-out stadiums across the UK and beyond,” Netflix said.
Paul is already egging a win, saying: “This isn’t an AI simulation. This is Judgment Day. When I beat Anthony Joshua, every doubt disappears, and no-one can deny me the opportunity to fight for a world title. To all my haters, this is what you wanted.”
We’ll have to wit and see how it pans out.
