‘Sinister’ David Harbour note to Lily Allen resurfaces after her damning claims in new album
He’s now turned his Instagram comments off
The marriage of Stranger Things actor David Harbour to Lily Allen has been seen in a very damning light after she just today dropped her new album West End Girl. The album has received instant acclaim, and sees Lily Allen write through very blunt, vulnerable and brutal lyrics the downfall of her marriage to the actor after the pair met on celebrity dating app Raya. Notably, it discusses how after she began her acclaimed acting career and went back to London after moving to New York City for him it all started crumbling – and a “sinister” note David Harbour left Lily Allen has resurfaced that people are calling out as very toxic in hindsight.
The note is… not a nice read
Lily Allen began her acting career when she bagged the lead in 2:22 A Ghost Story – at the time originating the role on the West End and her getting this part is detailed in the album’s opening and title track West End Girl. There are lyrics on the album about David Harbour reacting to Lily Allen getting this part where he makes comments about her having to audition (when she’d already got the lead role) – as well as the lyric “I said I got some good news I got the lead in a play, that’s when your demeanour started to change’.
For her performance in the play, Lily was nominated for a Laurence Olivier award. At the time she posted a note left to her from her husband, and it was read as humorous in tone when they were still married but now in hindsight and with more context from her allegations on West End Girl, it’s getting called out for being ‘sinister’.

This note is so sinister in hindsight after listening to West End Girl. David Harbour could not stand that is wife might find success as an actress. He must have crashed out when she was nominated for an Olivier Award – equivalent to his Tony nomination. pic.twitter.com/8nTol9YwiV

The note reads “My ambitious wife, these are bad luck flowers, ’cause if you get reviewed well in this play you will get all kinds of awards and I’ll be miserable. Your loving husband.”
David Harbour is yet to respond to any of the allegations Lily Allen threw at him in the lyrics across West End Girl or addressed the sentiment of the note – but he has now turned his comments off on Instagram.
Lily Allen is getting loads of complimentary tweets about the decision to release this album right before David Harbour is set to embark on the press junket circuit to promote the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. The interview questions are about to be gobsmacking.
