Revealed: The 30 private and state schools managing to get the most students into Oxbridge
Five state schools are better than Eton
After extensive digging through the admissions statistics for the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford, we can reveal the 30 UK schools (both state and private) that are getting the most students into Oxbridge. Loads of loads are actually state schools. Yay for them.
The best UK school at getting students into Oxbridge is Westminster School – and by a long way. This super-fancy London boarding school got a whopping 81 students into Oxford and Cambridge last year. The fees reach a truly eye-watering £65,976 a year.
Plenty of state schools are also getting huge numbers of pupils into Oxbridge. Five state schools actually got just as many, or even more, pupils into Oxford and Cambridge than the famous Eton College did. Although, the most successful state schools for Oxbridge offers tend to be very selective grammar schools in affluent areas of London or the south of England.
These statistics refer to the number of undergraduates who applied during the 2024 admissions cycle and were accepted into Oxford and Cambridge, as that’s the most recent data on offer. Remember, some schools have much larger sixth-forms than others. So, they’re much likelier to get a lot of students into Oxbridge than smaller schools.
