We found Dean from MAFS UK’s old fitness page, and the videos are super intense
We might need to apologise to Sarah
MAFS UK’s Dean has been incredibly honest about his weight-loss journey before the show, and specifically, how it turned him into a person he didn’t recognise.
“I managed to actually lose about nine stone and it added pressure to stay looking that way and completely change the way I was. My friends called it ‘arrogant Dean’. And then I started to put the weight back on again but I was finding myself again. I was more confident in who I was,” he said in earlier episodes.
Though he’s since returned to fitness in a bid to “get lean”, he said he’s entering his next era in a better headspace than before – with some help from fellow MAFS groom Joe Wood.
Fingers crossed it’s a new era on all fronts, because his old fitness page has me actually agreeing with Sarah’s opposition to his larger-than-life personality – yuck.
Dean’s old health channel was called FatLadFitness

It seems “arrogant Dean’s” fitness journey was back in 2021, because that’s when he started his TikTok channel FatLadFitness, which is undeniably a pretty iconic name.
He stopped posting on the account in August 2024, but before that, he was updating his followers on various fitness-related challenges like 100km runs, his daily step count, push-up goals, and plank challenges. He also posted a little bit about food and nutrition, making himself a corned beef toasted sandwich, and warming up some chicken tikka in the microwave.
When MAFS’ Dean was on his weight loss journey, he had a catchphrase

Literally every single one of Dean’s videos started with the same incredibly jarring catchphrase: “Ayy, you know what it is. V, A, R, Day, all day, every day. Very [average?] what you sayyyyy. Whoop.”

There were also hand gestures to go along with the catchphrase, with Dean making a “V” and an “A” with his fingers before cupping his hands around his mouth to sing the final lines.
Most of Dean’s videos have that quintessential Dean energy, whether he’s singing and rapping about his fitness or doing Jamaican accents to explain his runs.
I have now watched all 53 videos on the channel, and I’m starting to understand why Sarah might have found it a little grating. Sorry, Dean.
If you don’t believe me, here’s a selection of videos from Dean’s original weight-loss journey from before MAFS UK.
I’m not sure why the accent is necassary
