Hayley Williams just revealed who she branded a ‘racist country singer’ in her new song

It’s a huge artist with four number one singles

Hayley Williams caused a massive stir this week, after she revealed who she was singing about in a new song where she blasted someone for being allegedly “racist”. The iconic Paramore lead singer, now a critically acclaimed solo artist in her own right, has seen success with rave reviews for her new album Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. In one of the songs, she made headlines for blasting someone as “a racist country singer” and everyone has been debating who it could be about. Despite the fact Hayley Williams was opaque in the track itself, that vague approach hasn’t translated to her speaking about the song because she just revealed who she accused of being racist in a new podcast appearance. It’s an extremely famous country singer who’s seen unprecedented commercial success in the past couple of years. Hayley Williams has revealed she was calling Morgan Wallen racist. Yikes.

It’s about Morgan Wallen

The song where Hayley Williams calls out the “racist country singer” in the title track of Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. The lyrics say bluntly “I’ll be the biggest star at this racist country singer’s bar,” to which Hayley Williams has now confirmed that she was aiming it at Morgan Wallen – who owns a bar called This Bar in Nashville.

Speaking on her episode of The New York Times’ Popcast, Hayley Williams was asked about who she was singing about in the song, saying to the Paramore icon “it could be a couple, it could be a couple”. Hayley Williams then confirmed she was singing about Morgan Wallen when she accused a “racist country singer” saying, “It could be a couple [of people] but I’m always talking about Morgan Wallen – I don’t give a sh*t. Find me at Whole Foods, b*tch. I don’t care.”

The Tab has reached out to Morgan Wallen for comment. He has not yet addressed her comments on any social media platform.

It’s not the first time Wallen has been called out for such behaviour. In 2021, a video surfaced of him saying the n word – which prompted other country singers to speak out. Maren Morris said that the video was representative of problems within the country genre. Kelsea Ballerini said “the news out of Nashville” didn’t represent country music.
