Your guide to all stalls in Alex Square in Freshers’ Week and beyond
Don’t lie, we all love those poster sales
Alexandra Square is a great place to chat, chill, and relax in between our respective campus comings and goings, as long as the rainy Lancs weather is on our side of course.
However, what makes the square even better is when there is a cute little stall offering something to do or buy, making the return to university a little more comfortable.
Now, thanks to this guide provided to The Lancaster Tab by LUSU, students won’t have to rely on word-of-mouth to frequent these vendors.
Monday, 29th September: Tipple and Restore
Kicking off Freshers’ Week post-arrivals, there will be stalls from Tipple and Restore.
If you don’t know, Tipple is a beloved cocktail bar located on King Street. It offers a wide variety of drinks, serves food from 5-9pm everyday, and is a great place to get bottomless brunch on Saturdays.
Restore is located on campus next door to Costa, and is a handy place to pick up some pre-loved items as well as some pretty cool Lancaster University merch and memorabilia.
The Restore stall will be staying on campus for the following day as well, so don’t worry if you cannot make on it Monday.
Make sure to head to Alex Square on Monday so you don’t miss out on anything stalls may be offering.
Tuesday, 30th September: Lancaster City Council Waste Management and Recycling
Following on from Tipple and Restore, eco-conscious students, as we all should be, can learn about how Lancaster City Council recycles waste and can find the best way to break-down their plastics and cardboards to be recycled.
Lancaster City Council Waste Management and Recycling will also be on campus on Thursday, 2nd October.
Friday, 3rd October: Kaspa’s Desserts

Those with a sweet tooth can rejoice in the fact that Kaspa’s Desserts will be gracing campus during Freshers’ Week.
Located on Penny Street, Kaspa’s Desserts is a great place to fulfil sweet cravings through their offerings of waffles, ice creams, milkshakes and sweets. Their late closing time at 11pm has helped many a student with a sweet treat to fuel a late-night study session.
Monday, 6th October – Wednesday, 8th October: Posters Sale
Following on from Freshers’ Week, if your room still feels a little plain, you may want to visit the poster sale. In previous years, the poster sale has been a student favourite stall.
The stall usually has a wide variety of pictures to hang off your walls, from anime, to music, to topographical maps and much, much more. Defiantly make sure you don’t miss out on a leisurely peruse during its three-day stay.
Friday, 10th October: Google Gemini
As I’m sure you all know, AI is pretty commonplace now, particularly in university settings.
Those interested in learning more about the uses of AI technology and google’s development into the topic can visit Alex Square to learn more about big data, chat bots, hyperparameters, and any other terms I definitely didn’t just google to make my article seem more technologically adept.
