It’s official: The Lancaster Tab is looking for new writers, and we want you
Come along to our meeting at 6pm on October 5th in Pendle’s Harpley Lounge
It’s official: The Lancaster Tab is looking for new writers, and we would love for you to join the team.
If you’re looking for something to do alongside your studies that’s low pressure, unrestrictive and fun, or even if you just want to channel your inner Rory Gilmore, The Lancaster Tab is the perfect place to be.
Not only does the experience look great on your CV for attracting future employers, we also have regular socials allowing you to make friends while getting your writing published. It’s also super easy to do alongside other activities and your university subjects because you can write as much or as little as you want.
No experience is required to write for us, just come along to our weekly meeting to meet the editorial team and join our incredible team of writers.
What actually is The Lancaster Tab?
The Lancaster Tab is usually the first on the case for the hard-hitting news stories that take place on campus and in town.
However, if news isn’t your thing, The Tab is a great opportunity to flex your writing skills whilst linking your favourite pop culture moments to our lovely Lancaster.
The Lancaster Tab is for Lancaster students by Lancaster students, and is a great opportunity to write about what matters to you – whether you’d like to write on local news, fun quizzes or even your favourite television shows.

Our meetings, which take place Tuesdays 6pm in the Harpley Lounge, are usually a pretty chilled out occasion. We have a group chat that borders on the side of buzzing a little too much, but The Lancaster Tab is a great way to get stuck into what is going on at university with a great team of diverse people at your side.
Plus, you have complete control over what you write or don’t want to write.
Who will see your article?
The Lancaster Tab is a local edition of The Tab, the national student website that has local teams at more than 30 UK universities, meaning your articles can reach a wide audience.

What’s more, we also have a TikTok and Facebook page that’s continuing to grow, with over 4,000 followers combined.
Our team of student editors is here to help and guide you, and each team is appointed a professional journalist at The Tab HQ who is there to help strengthen your writing.
Joining The Lancaster Tab can open so many doors to develop your skills and facilitate your future, with previous writers going on to work for media staples like BBC News, Vogue, and The Tab HQ in London.
Whilst The Tab is a place to develop your career aspirations and improve your journalism skills, it’s also the perfect spot to meet like-minded people and socialise with a supportive team.
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, join us at our first meeting on October 5th at 6pm in The Harpley Lounge, located in Pendle Brew – we look forward to seeing you there!
